WHAT IS DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY?


Developmental psychology is the branch of psychology that studies development and change aspects of the human psyche since birth until death. Applied developmental psychology of the sciences are used in various fields such as education and parenting, optimizing quality of life for older adults, adolescents handling
Namely the famous Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget (1896-1980) says that children can actively construct their own cognitive world. Piaget believed that children adjust their thinking to master new ideas, because additional information will increase their understanding of world.
Piaget tells us that we exceed this through four stages of development in understanding the world. Each age-related stages and consist of different ways of thinking. Here are more details:
-Sensorimotor-stage, which occurs from birth to age two years, represents the first stage of Piaget. At this stage, the mental development is marked by great progress in the baby's ability to organize and coordinate sensations (such as seeing and hearing) through the movements and physical actions.
-Preoperational stage, which occurs from ages two to seven years, is the second phase piaget.pada this stage children begin to depict the world with words and images.
-Concrete-operational stage, which lasts from age 7 to 11 years, is the third stage of Piaget.
At this stage the child can perform logical reasoning replaces intuitive thought as far as thought can be applied to the cotoh-specific examples or concrete.
-Formal operational stage,which looks at the age of 11 until 15 years old, was the fourth and last stage of Piaget. At this stage, the individual exceeds the real world, concrete experiences and think in abstract and more logical
